PATRON RESPONSIBILITIES

We want to welcome everyone to our district library.  Students are especially welcome to come in for reading, exploring, visiting quietly, learning, and dreaming!  If you need assistance, please ask one of the librarians on duty at the front desk.  Expectations for everyone using the library include the following:

  • Everyone must respect the rights and privacy of others, including maintaining a quiet, friendly, working atmosphere.
  • Patrons should be able to come to the library and expect not to be bothered by solicitations, disturbing and disruptive behavior, and improper or offensive language.
  • The Central Lake District community should expect all patrons to treat the library materials and equipment with respect so they are available for as many users as possible.
  • All patrons are expected to follow Village, Township, State, and National laws and ordinances, as well as specific library policies.  This includes no smoking and no public intoxication allowed on the grounds of the public library.  Any violations will be dealt with by contacting appropriate authorities.
  • The only designated areas for eating and beverages are the Main Lobby and the Activity Room.  Popcorn will be available if a request is made to one of the librarians.  Please make sure the area is clean when you are finished.
  • The only designated area for patrons using cell phones is in the Main Lobby.  This is so as not to disturb other patrons.
  • Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
  • Computer use:  All patrons must abide by the Library’s Internet Use Policy.  Since our public computers are in great demand, it is necessary that we limit the time that a computer may be used at one sitting.  Each user must have a valid Library Card and sign in with their patron number at the Main Desk.  There is a one hour limit on the workstations when other patrons are waiting.
  • Activity Room:  A community member or organization may sign up a time for using the Activity Room by filling out an application.  The Library Director will be responsible for scheduling the time on the Library’s calendar.
  • Any person 18 years of age or older who wishes to be a Library Volunteer, must fill out an application. Arrangements would then be made with the Library Director.
